The word YONI means, in translation from Sanskrit, “vulva” (the feminine genital organ). Yet this position is not only for women. The men can also perform it because it increases their virility.

As part of the subtle anatomy of the being there is a second power centre, subordinated to SWADHISTAHANA CHAKRA, called YONI CHAKRA. At subtle level, this power centre is “placed” on clitoridian area at women and on penis insertion at men. YONI CHAKRA lets you experience sexual and erotic pleasure, preorgastic state and orgasms.

The weak stimulation of the YONI CHAKRA leads to the absence of the orgasm. Lack of orgasm is, for men, a part of impotence that appears either through painful ejaculation without orgasm, or through the impossibly to have an erection, or orgasm.

The starting position is on your knees.

Spread your feet and put your pelvis on the ground. In the final position your heels should be approximately at ten centimetres from your thighs. Your feet should stay along the thighs without touching them and oriented to the exterior. If the flexibility of your ligaments does not allow your soles to be perfectly stretched then it will be oriented to the exterior.

In case your pelvis cannot be sat on the ground you should put a pillow under it. In time, while the elasticity of your ligaments, ankles, knees and pelvis increases, you will be able to let this support go. Relax the thighs muscles as much as possible in order not to solicit your knees muscles too much.

Then put your arms on one side and the other of your pelvis with your fingers (not palms) against the ground. Put your thumb as further from the other fingers as possible. Your elbows should be perfectly stretched out. Put your hands on the ground on the same line with your shoulders. Be careful to keep your backbone as straight as possible and your head on the same line with it.

Try to perceive the activity of the YONI CHAKRA power centre “situated” in the clitoris area, respectively in the penis insertion area.
Notice gradually the transmutation of the sexual potential into energy, the waking up of the capacity to control these energies. Also notice the sublimation of the sexual energy in more refined energies corresonding to the superior planes of the being.

Activating Yoni Chakra will have ample echoes in the entire being leading gradually to the refinement and elevation of the inner feelings during ORGASM. The practice of this asana is an excellent exercise that prepares us for other difficult positions: SIDDHASANA (the perfect position) and PADMASANA (the lotus position). The execution of this position increases the flexibility of the coccyx – femoral articulation, knees articulation and ankles articulation.

For women the position of pelvis, of lumbar and sacral areas as well as the intensifying of the energies’ flow in the sacral area, they all eliminate the physiological disorders that appeared during period or menopause. YONI ASANA eliminates sexual problems: frigidity and impotence. It also eliminates cases of early ejaculation and leads to sexual continence.

The intense practice of this asana creates the possibility of becoming aware of the action of different muscular groups like: anal sphincters, perineum muscles. Thus you get the control of the muscular contractions from the inferior area of the abdomen.

You will be able to make distinction between anal sphincters contraction and profound vaginal muscles contraction (the pelvic muscles). YONI ASANA eliminates stress and tension and gives you serenity and spontaneity.
