The form of our feet is characteristic to one or other of the three Doshas, in terms of proportion, general aspect, and dimensions. The following description is for the “pure” representants of each type.

However, the cases in which a woman’s feet belong exclusively to one or other of the Doshas are practically non-existent. Nonetheless, there is the preponderance of one Dosha, indicating the fundamental type to which a woman belongs, as well as the means to achieve the ideal beauty corresponding to each type.

The most important element in the “diagnosis” of the fundamental type is the general aspect of the feet. For instance, if the general aspect of the feet denotes strength, vigour, with tendencies to massiveness it is clear that the KAPHA Dosha is predominant. There are also other characteristics of the Doshas, identified and described in each particular case.

THE KAPHA FEET
Their general aspect is very vigorous, characterized by massiveness, and force. These feet are well proportioned, have a regular aspect, with big articulations, but not unpleasant to the eye.
The ankles are strong, and the thighs have smooth, fine lines.

The muscles are not obvious through the smooth skin, which is usually white and shiny. The proportion between thigh-knees-ankles is balanced. The joints are elastic, and not prominent. The peripheral circulation is weak, which causes cold feet, especially in the winter.

The perspiration is fairly small in quantity and odorless. The walk is usually imposing, and slow. These feet hardly express any signs of nervousness.

The feet, through their regular aspect, and vitality, grant a particular charm to the women of this fundamental type. The soft, fine lines are a sign of feminity, however, physical exercise, and a balanced diet are recommendations for the women belonging to this type.

THE PITTA FEET
They are medium-sized, with a general aspect denoting vigour, but not massiveness. These feet are muscular, and the walk has elastic, feline-like movements.

The joints are particularly elastic and mobile; the muscles are well defined, the blood circulation is good, especially when the physical condition is good. The skin is reddish-pink and hot.

The lines of the hips and shanks are well defined, having an athletic aspect. The walk is characteristic, firm, denoting self-confidence, and light in the same time. The women belonging to this type happen to show their emotions through movements of their feet.

However, there is no incertitude in their movements, as they are firm, expressive and moderate.
The perspiration is more abundant and it sometimes has a specific odor.

If the women belonging to this constitutional type practice sports intensely, the feet may get a too muscular aspect, and not very feminine. Another phenomenon that may appear is the thickening of the shanks.

The proportioned, agile, vital aspect of the feet is a trait that gives charm to this bodily part, along with the feline-like, and sure movements.

THE VATA FEET
The feet belonging to this type usually have the most fragile aspect. The women belonging to this fundamental type may have extremely long feet. Moreover, the sensible variations in the length of the feet (in the sense that the feet are either longer, or shorter) are a characteristic of this fundamental type.

The feminine model of the 80’s and 90’s, with long, and very slender feet, indicates a preference for this fundamental type. Unfortunately, the past few years have proved an exaggerated tendency for the slimness characteristic to this fundamental type.

The general aspect of the feet, in this case, is less harmonious, as the joints are prominent and give the impression of sharpness. Sometimes there are asymmetries, especially of the bones (in the area of the shanks), as well as a lack of proportion between the thigh, knee, and ankle.

The joints are not elastic; the overall mobility is quite low. The joints often make a characteristic sound when flexed.
